Christina is a United States Figure Skating Association 7th tester. As an amateur, she skated with the Winchester Figure Skating Club and trained under Donna Mancini. She won medals in Interclub, Open and New England competitions in figure and freestyle events. Christina turned professional in 1988. She is on the staff of the Burlington Hockey and Skating Association and the Burlington Ice Palace. She gives professional instruction to many private students at the Winchester Figure Skating Club, Colonial FSC, and the Hayden Rec. Center. Christina is also the Director of the Billerica School Department Tot's Skating Program. Christina is an active member of the Professional Skating Association and currently holds a rating with them. She attended the World Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada receiving Hockey Level 1 accreditation. She also attended the World Conference in San Diego, California in May 2004, where she got to meet her favorite skater of all time Scott Hamilton! She attends Professional Skaters Association (PSA) seminars to keep her informed of the many changes that occur in figure skating on a yearly basis. Recently, in the 2006 New England Regional Figure Skating Championships she had six competitors attend. She coached the Gold and Bronze medalists of The Open Juvenile events. She had three skaters make it to the final rounds and two went on to the 2006 U. S. Junior National Championships (In Westminster, CO) at the Intermediate (New England Silver medalist) and Juvenile (New England Silver medalist) levels. She also coaches the first alternate for Eastern Sectionals at the Novice level. While at the 2006 U.S. Junior Championships she attended the "Reach for The Stars" program offered through US Figure Skating, a series of classes and seminars, for coaches and skaters at the event. Christina enjoys coaching all levels of skating from pre-school children to Senior Ladies.
Lynda joined our program as a professional in 2000. She brings with her many years of experience in group and private instruction. In 1980, Lynda graduated from “Boston Bouve College,” a.k.a. Northeastern University, in Physical Education. She has been on staff with the Winchester Figure Skating Club since 1977. For the past 24 years, Lynda has been responsible for the instruction of students in all levels of USFS, ISIA and MDC badge programs. Lynda is an active member of the Professional Skaters Association (PSA) and currently holds a rating with them. She is Co-Director of “Edgeworks,” a USFS basic skills school with locations in Woburn, Medford and Everett. Along with preschool, kindergarten and power edge programs; she is excited to join our BHSA team!
Jessica Caprio has been figure skating with BHSA since the age of six. She has competed in many competitions, including receiving a gold medal at the Bay State Games of America, and a Bronze at the State Games of America. She has passed all of her United States Figure Skating tests making her a double gold medalist in moves and freestyle. Jessica is a member of the Winchester Figure Skating Club, which she has represented in many competitions and where she is a long time student of Christina Welch. Jessica is coaching professionally with the Burlington Hockey and Figure Skating Association, as well as the Stoneham Basic Skills and Billerica Tots Programs. Jessica is a member of the Professional Skaters Association (PSA) and a freshman at the University of Massachusetts/Lowell where she a full time student on the Dean’s List.
Kristen is a 2003 Eastern sectional championship competitor, 2003 North Atlantic Regional Championship pewter medalist, and Colorado Championship pewter medalist. Kristen is a USFSA gold medalist in Freestyle and Moves in the Field. She had a very extensive competitive career and retired from competitive skating in 2006. She trained under master-rated coach Debi Leeming for 12 years. Kristen has her apprentice program teaching certificate and basic written exam through the Professional Skaters Association, where she is also a member.
